And How Was Your Summer Vacation?
Perhaps it was so great you'd love to repeat it!
Or
perhaps it was less than perfect ... or didn't
happen.
If
so --
How
would you like to take an “inner vacation” – at
will, anytime, anywhere – for free?
You
can, you know.
As
Lauren Butler said: “In
just a couple of seconds I can take a mental vacation
to the Florida
Keys!” Her
secret? A simple self-hypnosis technique.
(And
at the Sleep Disorders Center of Sebastian River
Medical Center she encourages insomniac patients
to use it.)
Because
your Sub-Conscious Mind stores all of your memories,
you can recall and improve any experience. And
because this creative part of your mind can also
fantasize, you can enjoy a free dream vacation.
Scientific
studies show that a “real” experience
and a vividly imagined experience activate similar
parts of the brain.
Whenever
I lead a Weight Loss with Hypnosis Workshop in
thinking about sucking a cold wet juicy yellow
lemon in enough sour detail, the audience puckers
their mouths! Why not enjoy a delicious tropical
fruit in a perfect paradise instead? (It’s
better than TV and without the commercials.)
How
to do this?
Begin
by “Calming
the Body, Calming the Mind” (taught
on the CD) to access the peaceful mind/body feeling
inside of you.
It
just takes a few breaths. And then imagine as vividly
as you can the sights, sounds, smells, temperature
and/or touch of your ideal experience. Be there.
Take your time. Enjoy. Your brain is flooded with
feel-good “endorphins”. And when you
open your eyes the good feeling lasts.
Note:
if you are not yet capable of achieving the completely
relaxed state in a few moments, the “Bringing
Calm into Chaos” CD teaches
the technique in hypnosis. (You can order the CD
on this newsletter or listen to a sample by clicking
on the picture on your left.)
It’s
easy to quickly develop the skill. Use it for
a day-time “mental vacation” or for
drifting off to sleep with a smile…
