Let Your Fingers Do the Tapping
Once upon a time …in 1980, Mary
was terrified of water. Standard therapy had not touched this intense
phobia that debilitated her with headaches and nightmares. Dr. Roger
Callahan decided to try something completely different and had her tap
on various acupuncture points while she was thinking about water and
feeling panicky. The result? The fear went away – forever.
Sounds too
easy?
I thought
so too when I took my first training in Emotional Freedom Technique
(EFT). But by the end of the training I was convinced that this
practice of Energy Psychology was powerful and easy to learn. And the
Research listed on their web-page was impressive. (www.emofree.com)
I really put it to the test after the twin hurricanes of 2004 when the
home roof went flying, the office was destroyed and the contractor was
crooked. I began having mild Post-Traumatic Stress symptoms of anxiety
and overwhelm, which not even self-hypnosis could cure! The solution
was EFT. Practiced for about 5 minutes a day, this “emotional
acupuncture” helped me cope with the financial and emotional
nightmare. I could find the calm eye in the middle of the storm.
I now offer to teach it to every client and enjoy giving workshops for
groups. I actually consider it mal-practice for me not to make EFT
available!
EFT brings
your energy back into balance.
EFT is based on the principles behind acupuncture – that illness,
traumas and negative emotions disrupt the body’s energy system.
Acupuncture uses needles or laser to unblock energy flow and promote
healing. EFT gives you the power to tap on the end points of these
energy meridians yourself. The results are a sense of inner calm,
access to your own inner wisdom, control over cravings, enhanced
performance and often improvement with various medical symptoms.
EFT is
empowering.
Too often when we are feeling stressed, ill or even caught in cravings
we also feel dis-empowered. These feelings overwhelm us and we
can’t see our way out. Having the power to change how we feel
– quickly – dispels this hopelessness. We are no longer the
victim to external happenings or internal distress. EFT strips
the power away from financial concerns, health issues, annoying people,
our difficult pasts and our unsure futures. EFT hands us the keys. We
are in charge of how we respond!
Try it for
anything.
I have successfully used it in my office, for adults and children, for
aspects of:
Weight
loss, smoking, anger, anxiety, tension headaches, irritable bowel
syndrome, pain, insomnia, obsessive compulsive disorder, sports
performance, fears and phobias (test, surgery, flying, elevators,
shark, public speaking…), depression, intense grief and so much
more…
EFT can be learned from the web-site created by Gary Craig, a student
of Roger Callahan – www.emofree.com.
But the deep uncovering of the origin of negative emotions and traumas
is a healing art and is best done with a trained practitioner. I teach
the basics in a two hour workshop (see Announcing, side-bar) or in a
one-on-one session (in person or on the phone).
Want it, try
it and feel the difference! I still do, for any of life’s
hurricanes.
