"I have all my patients practice
self-hypnosis at night for better sleep. Hypnosis is
safer than sleeping medications, which are only meant
to be used short term. In fact, the only side-effect
of hypnosis is better sleep.
It’s a skill—not
a pill!"

Do you ever have difficulty falling asleep?
What about staying asleep?
Trouble “turning off” your mind?
If so, you're in good company! Over one half of Americans
have had sleep difficulties. The causes are many and include anxiety,
worries, and poor “sleep hygiene”. Your problem may
be caused by temporary difficulties in life. Or poor sleep might
have become a habit over the years.
Hypnotherapy is an excellent treatment
for insomnia. Because it works with your powerful subconscious
mind you start getting more restful sleep by:
Learning how to set
aside your worries and turn down your thoughts. Your Hypnotherapy
sessions effectively teach you personalized relaxation/imagery
for redirecting your mind and slipping into sleep. This may be
put on tape/CD for home use.
Decreasing your “arousal
state” during the day. Quick and easy self-hypnosis
and relaxation techniques take just minutes during the day. Your
day is “de-stressed” and you are calmer physically
and mentally when you turn off the lights.
Programming
new sleep hygiene habits. You
may want to cut down caffeine, alcohol, or over-stimulating activities before
bed and need the support of your subconscious mind to do so. Hypnosis usually
works when will-power doesn't!
Changing your beliefs. Because of your past
sleep difficulties you may question your ability to “fall asleep quickly
and easily, sleeping deeply throughout the night and awakening refreshed.” Poor
sleep was just an old habit. Your mind is capable of learning amazing things!
You may be wondering:
Q. How many sessions will this take?
A. It depends on whether this is a recent or long-term
issue.
If this is a very recent problem caused by a current life difficulty, then in
my experience you are usually successful in just 3 or 4 sessions.
However, if your brain has established a habit of poor sleep over
the years, then it does take time and practice to create healthy
sleep patterns. If you practice the techniques that you easily
learn, then good sleep happens more quickly. I typically see good
results in 4 to 5 sessions.
Q. How can I help myself?
A. By practicing the one minute relaxation technique
during the day. By doing your simple self-hypnosis at bed-time.
And by optimizing your sleep hygiene habits. (See link above
Helping Yourself to a Good Night’s Sleep)
The real question is -- how motivated are you to sleep better?
Q. What about sleeping pills?
A. You will need to talk to your physician about
whether or when to decrease or come off your sleeping pills.
Many people depend on them and don’t realize that over
time the mind by itself can reestablish natural sleep patterns.
Q. Do I need a physician referral?
A. Yes. Simply have your physician call
me a referral. I do not need medical records.
Although I’m a licensed physician In Florida I am relying
on your personal physician to have done any lab testing, made sure
medicines aren’t causing sleep problems, or possibly have
ordered sleep studies. I am working with your subconscious mind
to restore natural sleep.
